Hello all!

Meet my new favorite dress!

monetatiecollar6

It's the Colette Moneta pattern [surprise surprise] with the Tie Collar option that's available as a free download on the Colette website.

This dress is my new favorite for a number of reasons:

a] It looks very much like clothes but feels like pajamas
b] Mustard is one of my favorite clothing colors
c] It's frickin' adorable

The fabric is this ponte from Girl Charlee. It's so soft and snuggly and has a really great combo of structure and stretch. I'm not sure if all their pontes are the same fabric, but I can vouch for the mustard!

You may recognize the color from the Moneta sewalong pictures. Yes, this is the same dress, kinda sorta. When I finished that dress, I was getting some major armhole gape, which is a common problem for me. So I hacked off the bodice, did a few pattern adjustments and made a new one. There is a little strain vertically on the bodice around the armholes, which you can see in some of the pictures, but I think it's mostly there. A few more tweaks then the fit should be great.

UPDATE: Here's a tutorial for how to get rid of armhole gape without adding darts.

I also wanted to try the tie collar instead of the one that overlaps in the back. I'm really glad I did because it's so cute!

It also looks very retro, and I was feeling major housewife vibes. So with a little bit of cig 'shopping, here's my best bitchy 1960s housewife impression:
